Nancy got a little fire pit to sit around in the back yard. We fire it up for dessert after one of our rare dinners together.

They’re starting to blow snow at Northstar for the scheduled (conditions permitting) Nov. 18 opening day. Here I am at mid-mountain, getting first tracks.
We’ve had some cold nights, but now it’s warming up again, too warm to make snow.

I joined Mark, Trish and Dave the Wave for another ride of the Flume Trail, this time starting from the Mt. Rose Highway.

Mark and Trish came up from Orange County for a few days of mountain biking, so we joined them for a quick ride on Sawtooth before work.

We took advantage of the warm days and autumn colors to ride the Flume Trail.
Beautiful day, but very crowded on the trail.

We rented a pole saw to cut off a few dead limbs at the Nelson house.

We got a pretty good crop, considering we weren’t able to plant until mid-July.

I’m finally feeling good enough to ride to work.
Nancy and I are both on swing shift, so she can come pick me up after work. She’s also been riding to work, and then I come pick her up after my shift.

We got our first blast of winter yesterday and today. Just an inch or two of quickly melting snow around the house, but quite a bit above 7000’.
This weekend is it for the bike park at Northstar. We’re hoping to get out and ride on Sunday; it should warm up enough by then to melt out the trails.

We’ve got some weather coming in, so I’m splitting some wood to fill up the wood bin.
We had a rough weekend—Nancy and I both got the flu and were knocked silly by it.

I have an ongoing project of replacing the nails in the deck with screws as the nails work themselves loose.
Here I am getting the deck ready to seal it.
