My days off changed and I came in an extra day because we were short-handed, so I worked ten days straight. Heading home after work.

Nancy got the teles out again—woo-hoo!
Another warm day with highs in the upper 50s and no snow on the horizon. Squaw Valley has been open for a week and we haven’t bothered to ski there yet because their snowmaking is so limited.

Another day of the same few groomers on man-made snow. Warm, warm day, with spring snow in some places, but mostly scraped hardpack.

Winter’s over!
We’ve got highs in the mid-50s, and the trail has melted out enough that I can ride to work. Typical Sierra weather, going from butt-cold to T-shirt temps.

We came out for some runs in a heavy mist/light drizzle before work.
Sure, we could have been home, eating turkey and watching football, but that’s not core, dude.

Nancy is determined to do more telemark skiing this year, so she broke out the granola gear for a couple of hours at Northstar.

There’s not much available to ski, so we just come out for an hour or two each day to get a feel for the snow.

Nancy got her Northstar pass and came out for a couple of hours to tear up the two runs available.
Gotta get that stoke.

I got out skiing for about an hour before work. There’s only two lifts open, and the only one worth skiing was pretty crowded, so I mostly did laps on the easier chair.
I just got out to get out and work the legs a bit.

The wind from yesterday produced a fresh blowdown on my trail. I’ll have to bring a saw the next time down.

We were supposed to get some snow today, but instead got a roaring windstorm all morning. It was snowing pine needles.
The winds blew up a fire in Reno that forced the evacuation of 10,000 people in southwest Reno.

(Actually, first day minus one.)
Northstar had employee-only skiing for a couple of hours today, mostly to work out the bugs before opening to the public tomorrow for the first day of the season.
The snow was all man-made, and better than I expected. I skied about eight groomers on an overcast, windy day before going to work.

We finally finished the last landscaping job before winter, burying some irrigation lines and a valve box at a house in Sierra Meadows.

I took advantage of the (relatively) warm temperatures to ride home from work a couple of nights. Although the afternoons are fairly balmy, it still drops down to the mid-20s by the time I start pedaling home.

Nancy rode her bike to work a couple times this week. I come and pick her up on my way home from work so the mountain lions won’t eat her in the dark.

The temperatures have warmed up to normal, so the snow that’s been hanging around for the last week has melted off the trail.

We went out to Tahoe Donner and then Donner Lake to finish wrapping at a few yards.
At one yard at Tahoe Donner we had to dig the plants out of the snow in order to tie them up. Seriously annoying.

We drove over to the west shore near Tahoe CIty to wrap up a couple of yards.
Nancy is tying up some plants so they won’t be damaged by the snow load during winter.

I’m almost done splitting and stacking the wood. I’ve got three pallets of wood on the deck, to go with ten pallets behind the house.

We were in Reno doing errands and I started getting hungry, so we went to the deli and got some potato salad, a container of olives, a nice roll of sourdough, and A BIG HUNK OF BOY MEAT!

The annual Truckee Ski Swap was today, and we got there an hour and a half early to wait in line to get the deals. It was about 20° in the shade.
I got a couple pairs of cheap skis.

We’ve got some weather coming in, and it’s preceded by high winds that are raining needles off the trees.
