We’re getting lows in the single digits and highs in the 20s, which isn’t that bad, but there’s also a strong northeast wind that’s like a slap in the face.
We got an inch of snow from the east, which is rare. Poor Heavenly hasn’t gotten any snow this year. They got about ten inches of dry snow from this northeast weather pattern, enough to finally get more than two lifts running.
This tree blew down across one of our side trails during the wind storm at the beginning of the month. When it fell, it took another big tree down with it.

Nancy braved a crunchy trail to ride to work. I came to pick her up after work—it was butt cold and snowing by the time she got off.

The skiing was okay on the frontside where you got the entire three inches, but on the Backside where it was an inch of wind-blown snow scattered over ice bumps, not so much.

It froze last night, turning all the wet snow to ice, so we went to Alpine to take advantage of the south-facing slopes.

We’re still getting a couple of inches or so a day, which is making the upper mountain at Squaw pretty fun. Here I’m making it look deeper than it is on Gold Coast.

We got out to Squaw on a blustery day. The snow up top is good, but it thins out so fast that the bottoms of the runs at Granite are pretty interesting.
Here’s Nancy in The Funnel.

The weather continues to be unsettled, so we’re getting snow showers that drop a couple of inches overnight.

We were supposed to get a foot of snow last night, but every storm has underproduced so far this year. Northstar claimed eight inches, but it was more like 3-4 inches, max.
The storm blew north along the mountain tops and never got over the Pacific Crest into the Tahoe basin. As a result, Sugar Bowl got two feet of snow and Heavenly got two inches.
At least it isn’t as bad as last year. The upper mountain is pretty decent skiing. We continue to have the problem of storms raining instead of snowing at lake level.
Climate change, anyone?

Another day of goofing around at Northstar. The snow is staying soft with the warm temps.

We have pretty good coverage above 8000’. Below that, not so much. Still skiing at Northstar, as Squaw only has Gold Coast runnning so far.

Since our trail is devoid of snow, we rode the 7.5 loop from our house out to Dry Lake and the Erika’s Trail loop.
It was pretty warm today, temps in the mid 40s. Here's another video from playing around with the Canon S120.

My first day skiing, Nancy’s seventh. A little damp, but soft snow. Nancy is going to drop me off at TTSA to ride home.
Trying out the video capabilities of my Canon Powershot S120.

We hiked about 4 miles on the trail from our house down to Martis Dam. There’s just a trace of snow on the trail, and it’s melting fast.
We were supposed to be hit with a major storm yesterday with six inches of snow possible at the house, but mostly we got a lot of wind and drizzle.
I got a Canon PowerShot S120 from Dad that has nice video capabilities. Here’s a time lapse video using the miniature effect in the camera.
