A solar eclipse occurred at about 6:30 today. We used two or three pairs of sunglasses in combination with some welders goggles to watch it.

I got in nine holes before work, my first round of golf this year. I played O.K. for not having swung a club since October; managed a couple of bogies, including on a par 5.

I’m trying to link up a trail I built a couple of summers ago with another trail, but it’s taking forever. I got out for a few hours of trail building, but it’s got a long ways to go.
Here we are on a section I just cut around a knoll.

I built a little shelf in the back shed to stuff all our tarps. You can tell I’m not much of a carpenter—here I am grinding the tips of screws that stick out too far.

We rode the Hardesty Trail about twenty miles east of Eugene with Dad. Nice trail, but there was a lot of debris on the trail that interfered with the flow.

We drove back to Eugene from Bend, stopping at Sahalie Falls on the way. This is the McKenzie River just below the falls.

We found a trail in the Phil’s Trail complex with technical sections—the C.O.D. trail.

We did a shuttle ride with Dad in the Phil’s Trail complex west of Bend.
We left one car at the upper end of the Skyliner Trail, and rode down to the other car at the Phil’s main parking lot.

We drove up from Truckee to meet Mom & Dad at the Tumalo campground ouside of Bend. We’re going to spend a week in Oregon, doing some mountain biking and whatnot.
