Nancy and I both raced Saturday morning in the Livewire Classic XC, so named because part of the downhill section took place on Northstar’s famous Livewire trail.
Nancy got first (as usual) in her class. We got lucky with no smoke in the air; the Rim Fire blew south for once.
It was a hard course—nine miles long with almost two thousand feet of climbing. Every class had to race the same distance, which Nancy was not happy about. It doesn’t make much sense to have pros and experts ride the same distance as us old folks.
I felt better than I did the last two races—I managed to finish just in front of a 71-year-old man.
